Prosperity Cup Technical Committee Begins Pitch Inspection Across Bayelsa. The technical committee of Nigeria's biggest football tournament, the Bayelsa Governor's Football Tournament, christened the Prosperity Cup, has embarked on pitch inspection tour ahead of commencement of the competition next month. The committee led by the Technical Director, Mr. Diseye Nwankwe, visited Otuasega, Imiringi and the Yenizue-gene/Biogbolo Secondary School pitches to ascertain the level of readiness for the various centers. Over twenty centers have been selected by the Central Organizing Committee (COC) of the tournament to host the season seven of the spectacle which was last won by Ogboinbiri FC of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area. Winners emerge at 4th edition of SAMKAY athletics meet .... get cash rewards Winners have emerged in the 4th edition of the SAMKAY athletics club Bayelsa secondary schools athletics competition held at the main bowl of the Samson Siasia sports complex in Yenagoa. The competition is in collaboration with the State Ministry of Education and the State Athletics Association.  Over 300 athletes from 30 schools participated in 100metres, 400metres, 800metres and Long Jump events. 13-year old Ebimoboere Christopher of St. Agnes Catholic School, Yenagoa was the revelation of the competition winning the 100 metres girls in 12:95 seconds followed by Gabriel Paebi of St. Jude's Girls Secondary School, Amarata in 13:15 seconds while Jacob Martha also of St. Jude's Girls Secondary School took third position in 13:27 seconds. GREAT SUNDAY ALL STARS' PEACE TEAM WINS FIRST END-OF-MONTH MATCH OF THE YEAR The first End-of-Month game for one of Bayelsa's prominent All Stars Football team, Great Sunday All Stars, which took place on Sunday, January 26th at the legendary Bishop Dimieri Grammar School, BDGS, field, saw Peace Team proving their superiority over Unity Team. Unity Team were defeated three goals to two by Peace Team in an intensed and interesting game, mixed with humor and exciting moments. Unity Team were favorites to win the first half following their dominance on the game and had three clear cut chances to score, but wasted them with Bozimo and Awala being the culprits. Substitute Pastor John found the back of the net just less than three minutes into the game, before Awala got the equalizer after a beautiful team work to end the first half all square.
