GREAT SUNDAY ALL STARS' PEACE TEAM WINS FIRST END-OF-MONTH MATCH OF THE YEAR


The first End-of-Month game for one of Bayelsa's prominent All Stars Football team, Great Sunday All Stars, which took place on Sunday, January 26th at the legendary Bishop Dimieri Grammar School, BDGS, field, saw Peace Team proving their superiority over Unity Team.

Unity Team were defeated three goals to two by Peace Team in an intensed and interesting game, mixed with humor and exciting moments.
Unity Team were favorites to win the first half following their dominance on the game and had three clear cut chances to score, but wasted them with Bozimo and Awala being the culprits.

Substitute Pastor John found the back of the net just less than three minutes into the game, before Awala got the equalizer after a beautiful team work to end the first half all square.

The second half saw Pastor John and Smart also scoring for Peace Team before Awala, the Unity Team forward increased his tally to two goals via the spot, after Otobo was hacked by an aggressive defender in the danger area.

Speaking with XtrymeSports.blogspot.com, Unity Team Coach Dickson and Captain, Pastor John expressed their happiness with the victory, and their readiness to win more games in the year.


Coach of Peace Team, Don Piroko, on his part alluded the loss of the game to the several unconverted chances, hoping he will work on his strikers in the coming games.

High point of the game was the symbolic decoration of the captain, Pastor John, by the Chairman of Great Sunday All Stars (GSAS), Chief David Igwele.
