OSOMKIME BLANKSON UNITY TOURNEY HOLDS DRAWS

***As Tournament Kicks Off November 20th

Organisers of the maiden Osomkime Blankson Unity Football Tournament for Yenagoa Local Government Area have held the draws for the maiden edition of the tournament.
A total of thirty five teams have registered to take part in the tourney that will kick off on the 20th of November, 2025.

According to the organizers, the shift in date from September 28th to November 20th was necessitated due to pleas from players and officials owing to the incessant downpour, which will hinder free flow of football, and also deny them from showcasing their skills.
The thirty five teams were grouped into four, namely Epie, Atissa, Okordia Zarama Buseni and Gbarain Ekpetiama, as sixteen teams will qualify for the Round of sixteen after the preliminary round. The tournament is on knockout bases.
Twelve teams registered in Attisa, Epie has thirteen teams, Gbarain Ekpetiama - eight teams, while Okordia Zarama Buseni has three registered teams.

In his remarks, Director General of the tournament, Comrade Dumeze Akuegbe, while welcoming all the officials of the participating teams, reminded them to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship throughout the entire competition.
Technical Director of the tournament, Coach Ada Gwegwe, on his part noted that at the conclusion of the preliminary round, draws will be conducted from the Round of 16 stage to the final.

He announced that winners will smile home with one million five hundred thousand naira (#1.500,000), runner up will take home eight hundred thousand naira (#800,000), while the third best team will be rewarded with five hundred thousand naira (#500,000), with outstanding players to receive fifty thousand naira each(#50,000), however, the prize monies might be reviewed, pending approval by the sponsor of the competition.
Coach Ada Gwegwe also noted that referees from the state council will officiate the games, assuring the team officials of fair officiating throughout the competition.
