UNIVERSITY OF AFRICA TO GET GOVERNMENT'S SUPPORT ON SPORTS FACILITY DEVELOPMENT
The Bayelsa State Government has assured the University of Africa, Toru-Orua, of its support in developing sports facilities in the university.
This assurance was made during a courtesy visit by the University's Sports and Recreation Committee, led by Dr. Nancy Nnebuihe Nwosu, to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Nimibofa Ayaowei.
Dr. Nwosu appealed for support in providing sports facilities, noting the institution's lack of on-campus facilities since its establishment. Also speaking, Coach Ada Gwegwe highlighted the university's achievements, including seven medals at the FISU trials, and expressed confidence that the facilities would enhance performance also produce talents for the state.
Prof. Ayaowei appreciated the visit and noted that Governor Douye Diri's passion for sports, has contributed to the state's success.
He mentioned the construction of a new stadium for the 2028 National Sports Festival and promised to discuss the university's request with the Commissioner for Sports Development and the Governor. Additionally, he pledged to provide indoor sporting equipment for the university.
