JUNIOR CHRISTOPHER'S LONE STRIKE SEALS VICTORY FOR EDEPIE COMMUNITY AS OSOMKIME BLANKSON TOURNEY CONCLUDES Edepie community has emerged winners of the maiden Osomkime Blankson Unity Football Tournament after defeating Ogboloma community one goal to nil in the final. Junior Christopher was the hero of the day after striking from close range in the second half with few minutes left to the game. The final played at the BDGS field on Tuesday lived up to the hype as both teams created several chances but could not convert any, with Edepie community creating most of the chances. EDEPIE, OGBOLOMA COMMUNITIES CLASH IN HON OSOMKIME BLANKSON UNITY FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT FINAL After almost five weeks of action at the ongoing Osomkime Blankson Unity Football Tournament, Edepie community and Ogboloma community will make the grass suffer when both teams meet in the final of the competition. Edepie community saw off Kpansia community by a lone goal in the first semi final game, while in the second semi final fixture, Igbogene community and Ogboloma community settled for a barren draw. However, it took the shootout for Ogboloma to book their spot in the final, after beating Igbogene 4-3, following the nervy and tight goalless recorded at regulation time. The grand finale is slated for Tuesday, 30th December, at the Kpansia football field in Yenagoa, with Kpansia community locking horns with Igbogene community in the losers final, before the final clash between Edepie community and Ogboloma community, with lots of dignitaries ...

HON OSOMKIME BLANKSON UNITY FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT GETS TO SENI FINAL STAGE The ongoing Osomkime Blankson Unity Football Tournament produced exciting quarter final results in the two centres that hosted the games. Edepie community booked its semi final spot after defeating Amarata community 3-2 in an intense quarter final game that produced five goals. It was the first quarter final fixture at the Bishop Dimieri Grammar School center, and it proved to be an interesting game as both teams showed resilience and determination to clinic the semi final ticket.  Amarata found the back of the net first, in the first half, Edepie leveled few minutes later, and then took the lead before half time, at the resumption, Edepie increased their tally to three, before Amarata's second goal which came shortly before the final whistle. HON OSOMKIME BLANKSON UNITY FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT: QUARTER FINAL TEAMS EMERGE  Eight teams have booked their quarter final spot after defeating their opponents at the ongoing Osomkime Blankson Unity Cup in Yenagoa. At the Round of 16 fixtures which began on Monday 22nd of December, Ogu community defeated Obogoro community by two unreplied goals at the Bishop Dimieri Grammar School center, while Igbogene whitewashed Famgbe with five goals to nil. At the Ogboloma center on the same day, Yenizue-Gene beat Tombia community one nil, as Ogboloma community booked their passage to the quarter final without kicking a ball due to the inability of Okordia community not turning up for the encounter. At the Biogbolo/Yenezua-Gene center on Tuesday December 23rd, Polaku and Kpansia played out a one all draw, however,  Kpansia Community saw off their opponent 4-3 on penalties, as neighboring community, Yenizue-epie defeated...

OSOMKIME BLANKSON UNITY FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT SET FOR ROUND OF 16 Thirteen teams have qualified for the Round of 16 of the ongoing Osomkime Blankson Unity Football Tournament for Yenagoa council area. At the end of Day four of the group games played this Thursday, Kumbuama and Okolobiri played a two all draw, with Kumbuama progressing 3-1 on penalties, while Koroama lost 1-2 to Obuna. The last group games will take place on Friday 19th of December, where Ikibiri will be hoping to upset Tombia, at 2pm at the Biogbolo/Yenizue-gene centre, while Okordia will battle Buseni in the second game at 4pm. Draws for the Round of 16 has been fixed for Saturday, 20th December, at 10am, at the Yenizue-gene Town hall, by Immigration Road, with the kick off set for the next day, Sunday, 21st. Communities that have qualified for the Round of 16 include Obogoro, Swali, Ogu, Igbogene, Kpansia, Ovom, and Famgbe. Others are Agudama, Amarata, Kumbuam...

NDG: Ikpokpo Tasks Liaison Committees to Mobilise for Athletes Registration Performing the inauguration of the Akwa Ibom State Liaison Committee for the 2nd Niger Delta Games (NDG), Sir Malik Ikpokpo KSM, the Managing Director of Dunamis Icon Limited and Project Consultant for the Games, charged all the states committee members to mobilize to have their athletes and coaches registered on the games portal. He also reiterated that the 2026 games is strictly for athletes under 20 years. Represented by Mr Fred Edoreh, a veteran journalist, and the Games Project Director, Ikpokpo said,  "members of the various state committees have to mobilize for the registration of their athletes on the games' portal as non-registered athletes will be denied clearance to participate in the fiesta".  At the inauguration ceremony in his office, Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Sports, Hon. OSOMKIME BLANKSON UNITY FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT: FOUR TEAMS PROGRESS TO NEXT ROUND Ovom and Famgbe communities have booked their spot in the next round of the ongoing Osomkime Blankson Unity Football Tournament in Yenagoa, following the commencement of the group games on Monday. Ovom defeated Akaba by two goals to one in the first fixture played at the Bishop Dimieri Grammar School, while Famgbe progressed 8-7 on penalties in the second game against Agbura after a tough encounter that ended in a barren draw. On Tuesday 16th December, Edepie saw off Azikoro by two goals to one at the Biogbolo/Yenizue-gene field, while Agudama needed penalties to book their spot in the next round.  The tie against Okutukutu ended in a two all draw, and in the shootout, Agudama defeated Okutukutu 3-2.  Actions will continue on Wednesday, 17th December, Akenfa tackles Amarata at 2pm, as Biogbolo will lock horns with ne...

OSOMKIME BLANKSON UNITY FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT: GROUP STAGE FIXTURES BEGINS ON MONDAY, 15TH Organisers of the maiden Osomkime Blankson Unity Football Tournament for Yenagoa Local Government Area, have announced Monday, 15th December, 2025 as the commencement of the group games of the competition. According to the schedule of games, Ovom will take on Akaba in the first fixture at the Bishop Dimieri Grammar School field at 2pm, while Famgbe will tackle Agbura at 4pm at the same venue. On Tuesday 16th December, Edepie will face Azikoro at 2pm at the Biogbolo/Yenizue-gene field, while Agudama will meet Okutukutu in the other game. The following day, Wednesday, 17th December, Akenfa tackles Amarata, as Biogbolo will lock horns with neighbors, Yenizue-gene, while at the Kpansia centre, Onopa will host Yenizue-Epie.
