GRASOF CELEBRATES NIGERIA'S SENATE PRESIDENT ON HIS BIRTHDAY


One of Nigeria's foremost grassroots sports organisers, the Grassroot Sports Federation (GRASOF) extends its warmest birthday greetings to the Senate President of Nigeria, Senator (Dr) Godswill Akpabio, on the occasion of his birthday.

In a statement by the organisation's Public Relations Officer, Mr Patrick Ndubuisi, released on Tuesday, National President of GRASOF, Hon. John Bassey Ekpenyong, expressed the organization's warm felicitations to the Senate President, describing him as an uncommon leader.
The statement said the Senate President's dedication to sports development and community empowerment has inspired many, hence, the need to honor and celebrate him on this special day.
It notes that GRASOF recognizes the Senate President's tireless efforts in promoting grassroots sports and empowering young people in Nigeria, especially through the numerous sporting events hosted during his time as Governor of Akwa Ibom state, and now the Senate President's U-18 Unity Cup hosted in 2924 and 2025 in Abuja, and not forgetting, building the iconic monument, the Godswill Akpabio stadium, which has become a national pride, and a ground for nurturing talents nationwide.
It added that Senator Godswill Akpabio's vision and leadership have contributed significantly to the growth of sports in the country, and GRASOF is proud to acknowledge his achievements.

The organization prays for God's continued blessings, good health, and wisdom for the nation's number three citizen, as he celebrates another milestone.

OSOMKIME BLANKSON UNITY TOURNEY HOLDS DRAWS ***As Tournament Kicks Off November 20th Organisers of the maiden Osomkime Blankson Unity Football Tournament for Yenagoa Local Government Area have held the draws for the maiden edition of the tournament. A total of thirty five teams have registered to take part in the tourney that will kick off on the 20th of November, 2025. According to the organizers, the shift in date from September 28th to November 20th was necessitated due to pleas from players and officials owing to the incessant downpour, which will hinder free flow of football, and also deny them from showcasing their skills. The thirty five teams were grouped into four, namely Epie, Atissa, Okordia Zarama Buseni and Gbarain Ekpetiama, as sixteen teams will qualify for the Round of sixteen after the preliminary round. OSOMKIME BLANKSON UNITY TOURNEY KICKS OFF IN YENAGOA **** As Famgbe, Yenezue-gene Fire Blank In Opener The Opolo community school field was agog on Friday as the much anticipated maiden Osomkime Blankson Unity Football Tournament for Yenagoa council area kicked off in the capital city. Thirty five teams drawn from the communities within Yenagoa are participating in the competition. Sponsor of the tournament, Hon. Chief Osomkime Blankson, led other notable personalities from the council area, including paramount rules of neighboring communities to the opening ceremony.
