NSF: BAYELSA WOMEN BASKETBALL TEAM WINS GOLD The Bayelsa state women Basketball team has defended their gold medal after beating host, Ogun state in the final on Tuesday, XtrymeSports.blogspot.com reports. Bayelsa led from the first quarter and held on to the lead till the fourth quarter which ended 59:37 in favour of the defending champions. The tensed final saw the host coming close to call, especially in the second and third quarter, however, the Bayelsa team kept their cool till the final whistle. Speaking to newsmen shortly after the game, Coach Tony Nelson commended his girls for making the state proud for the umpteenth time, winning yet another gold in Basketball. He also expressed his gratitude to the Governor, Senator Douye Diri, for his continuous support to athletes and coaches, which has seen them excel in various competitions.

BREAKING!!! BAYELSA WINS MEN TABLE TENNIS GOLD  Bayelsa state male Table Tennis team on Monday, clinched gold medal in style, to further prove their dominance in the sport in the country. The Table Tennis team led by Samuel Boboye clinched the top spot after seeing off Delta state in the finals, winning three straight sets, Xtrysports.blogspot.com reports. In the singles category, Olajide Omotayo won the first set 3-0, while Taiwo Mati won the second set by 3-1. In the doubles, the duo of Olajide Omotayo and Azeez Sholanke humbled their Delta counterpart 3-0 to clinch gold. The Director General of the Prosperity Cup, Mr Ono Akpe has declared that the Bayelsa State Governor's Football Tournament is achieving set results. WORLD CLASS TABLE TENNIS FACILITY SET FOR COMMISSIONING IN YENAGOA

The Bayelsa State Table Tennis Association says it has concluded plans to inaugurate an ultra-modern table tennis facility in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State Capital. The inauguration of the facility, to be known as the Coastal Fortress, will also feature the unveiling of Italy's Luciano Esposito as the new Coach for the association. This is contained in a statement signed by the chairman of the state table tennis association, Mr. Ama-ebi Ebikpolade Stow, ahead of the inauguration of the multi billion naira facility located at the Oxbow-Lake Road, by Federal Mortgage Bank, Yenagoa. BAYELSA SPORTS MINISTRY WELCOMES WRESTLING AFRICAN CHAMPIONS Following their victorious outing at the just concluded African Senior Wrestling Championship in Casablanca, Morocco, the Bayelsa State government, through the Ministry of Sports Development, on Tuesday received the wrestlers in Yenagoa, XtrymeSports.blogsoot.com reports.
