Athletics: Bayelsa Athletes Receive Kits From SamKay Club


Preparations towards major and minor sporting events for Alathletes in Bayelsa State received a boost following presentations of kits to the State Athletics Association.

Samkay Athletics Club unveiled and presented the kits to athletes in the State on Tuesday.

At the brief ceremony held inside the main bowl of the Samson Siasia Sports Complex in Yenagoa, the Founder and Chief Executive of the Sam Kay Athletics Club, Dr. Kola Oredipe said the gesture was to encourage the young and upcoming athletes to aspire to be the best.

The move followed his previous actions by the donor, such as the athletics meet foe secondary schools among others.

Dr. Oredipe who is the Vice Chairman of the Bayelsa State Athletics Association charged the young athletes to utilize the kits to do the State proud at the forthcoming National Athletics Under 20 and Olympic Trials scheduled for the Sam Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Edo State from June 16 to 18.

Dr. Oredipe who is the Director, Bayelsa State Government New Media said the kits that were handed to the athletes were part of efforts to motivate more youths to get involved in Athletics.

 Some of the kits donated to the athletes were running vests, spike shoes, training canvas and sneakers.
