Nigeria Wrestling Federation Unveils Wrestlers for Paris Olympics.

Appreciating the Governor, Douye Diri for giving sports a special place in his administration, he said their smooth preparation for the Olympics games would be incomplete without the effort of the President Nigeria Olympic Committee NOC Engr. Habu Gumel for giving wrestling due attention.
Six wrestlers comprising of five female, and a male will fly the country's flag at the forthcoming Olympic im Paris.
The female wrestlers are Ogunsanye Christiana - 53kg, Kolawole Esther - 62kg, Odunayo Adekuoroye - 57Kg, Hannah Reuben - 76kg, Blessing Oborududu - 68kg and the only Mutuwa Ashton - 125kg will compete in the Olympics games in Paris in respective weight classes.
Xtrymesports.blogspot.com reports that the wrestlers were unveiled by the Nigerian Wrestling Federation at a brief ceremony held at the ultramodern wrestling gym in Yenagoa on Monday.
President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation Dr Daniel Igali while unveiling the wrestlers to newsmen, said this year's Olympic games in Paris, France, tagged "Paris 2024" will provide another opportunity for the nation's wrestlers to rewrite the country’s story.
Dr. Igali gave the assurance at the official unveiling of the nation's wrestlers ahead of the Olympics in Paris, slated from the 26th to 11th of August, 2024.
Dr Igali who is also the commissioner for Sports Development in Bayelsa, noted that the federation is going to the ancient games to compete and not just mere participation, stating that the wrestling federation has gone beyond participating in the tournament but rather winning laurels.
The commissioner opined that the 2024 Olympic games would provide another opportunity for athletes to rewrite the country's name in gold by clinching gold in all weight categories, stressing that the wrestling federation is prepared for the Olympics games.
He equally lauded the minister of Sports Development Senator John Enoch, Chief of Defense Staff General Christopher Musa, the permanent Secretary of Ministry of Development, Mrs. Grace Alagoa, Director of Sports, Sir Braveman Wodi and the media for the untiring support.
Secretary to the State government, Prof Nimibofa Ayawei, Chairman House Committee on Sports, Barr.Tare Porri and Chairman Bayelsa State Table Tennis Association, Mr. Ama-Ebi Ebikpolade, in their goodwill messages, urged the wrestlers to give Nigeria good representation in the Olympics.
Two wrestlers Blessing Oborududu and Kolawole Esther in an interview, said they are ready to give their best in the Olympics games, expressing optimism of a podium finish.
Recall that a silver medal was won by Blessing Oburududu at the last Olympics, which is the highest so far in the game of wrestling.
