SPORTS COMMISSIONER, IGALI HOSTS BAYELSA SWAN

Commissioner for Sports Development, Bayelsa State, Hon. Daniel Igali, says sports writers are essential in driven policies and activities of administrators and athletes, and as such will ensure they are integral part of his programs and that of the state government.

This is as he lauded the efforts of sports writers in Bayelsa for their commitment towards enlightening the public of happenings around the subsector.

Xtrymesports.blogspot.com gathered that the wrestling World and Olympic Champion was speaking while meeting with the leadership of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Bayelsa chapter, in his office in Yenagoa on Thursday.

Commending the chapter for successfully concluding their elective congress in a peaceful manner, Hon. Igali charged them to continue to be at peace with one another, and avoid rancour while carrying out their activities.

He assured the association of ensuring they are duly informed of every activities in the state, adding he will also ensure Bayelsa SWAN takes its rightful place in terms of involvement in decision making and otherwise, in the state.

Chairman Bayelsa SWAN, Comrade Mrs Timinepre Ohia, in her earlier remarks, congratulated the Commissioner for Sports on his reappointment, as Sports Development Commissioner.

Highlighting some of the challenges being encountered by members of the association, Comrade Mrs Ohia pledged the association's commitment to promoting the activities of the Sports ministry, while calling for a cordial working relationship with the Sports ministry.

ATHLETICS FEDERATION OF NIGERIA (AFN) HOLDS EXTRAORDINARY CONGRESS IN BAYELSA  ***Commends State's Resurgence In Athletics**** Following Bayelsa's emergence as champions of the first ever Niger Delta Sports Festival in Uyo, the Athletics Federation Nigeria, AFN has congratulated the state for its sudden dominance in athletics, which obviously was instrumental to their success at the festival.
