AFCON QUALIFIERS: NATIONAL PRESIDENT SUPER EAGLES SUPPORTERS CLUB(SESC) CERTAIN OF NIGERIA'S VICTORY
Ahead of the two-legged tie involving Nigeria's Super Eagles this weekend, National President of the Super Eagles Supporters Club (SESC) Barrister Johnson Dagana has expressed confidence on the Coach Augustine Eguaveon led team.
The senior men national team will battle Libya's Mediterranean Knights on Friday at the beautiful Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, in a Group D match day 3 tie of the African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Speaking in Yenagoa the Bayelsa State capital, the astute football administrator stressed that the technical crew nd players know what is at stake, and will certainly go for the kill from the blast of the whistle.
"I think the Coach has shown his worth as a matter of fact, because he did an interim job, which in my own opinion he did very well where he won one and drew the other and so it's a good one, and I believe that with all that experience, and coming back again, I have that confident that he is going to deliver on Friday".
"It's a dicey game but I have that hope. And of course as Nigerians you know we are always optimistic when it comes to football. So I believe we will pull through. I see us beating Libya two nil in Uyo."
Reacting to the absence of the African Footballer of the Year in the double fixture, the National President boasted of the capacity of Bayern Leverkusen's talisman, Victor Boniface, and Sevilla's forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, adding that both players have what it takes to lead the Super Eagles attack to victory.
"For Boniface he has that skill, he has shown it several times, all he needs do is to put in extra effort to scoring, and I think that with this present coach giving them the necessary guidance he will be able to deliver. As for Iheanacho, I believe that he will have that extra push to do something for the country, of course he knows that Nigerians are there and all there hopes are on them, so they will do their best to deliver."
The 10,550 Martyrs of Benina Stadium in Benghazi, Libya, will host the return leg on Tuesday, 15 October.
Currently ranked 39th in the world and 6th in Africa behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Cote d'Ivoire, and Tunisia, the Coach Austin Eguaveon tutored side will be hoping to maintain their form where they yet to loose a game at the AFCON qualifiers, when they meet the Mediterranean Knights, who currently ranked 34th in Africa and 121st globally.
Both teams have met only three times in history with Nigeria smashing all three wins against their North African opponent, with several bookmakers expecting a similar result in the double tie.
