President of the Nigerian Wrestling Federation, NWF, Dr Daniel Igali has applauded the chairman of the Bayelsa State Table Tennis Association Mr. Ama-ebi Ebikpolade Stow, for his contribution towards the development of sports in Bayelsa State.
Speaking ahead of the 3rd Gov. Douye Diri Wrestling Classics in Yenagoa slated for 3rd through the 10th of November, 2024, Dr. Igali said that Mr. Ama-ebi's passion and unwavering commitment for the development of sports in the state has been mind-blowing.
According to Xtrymesports.blogspot.com, Dr Igali who doubles as the commissioner for Sports Development in Bayelsa, expressed his gratitude to Mr Ama-ebi for his contributions towards the wrestling federation, stressing that it was indication of the table tennis boss's willingness to support the development of sport in Bayelsa.
According to him, the Wrestling Federation and the Ministry of Sports Development is pleased with Mr. Ama-ebi Stow's show of solidarity for the Wrestling Federation describing him as a perfect definition of a round peg in a round hole.
He commended the Bayelsa State Table Tennis Association Boss for investing in youths as well as ensuring that they combine their education with sports, noting that the facilities and support put in place in table tennis by the association will have a huge positive impact and reflect in the outcome in the nearest future.
The Wrestling Federation President equally approved to honour of the table tennis boss and philanthropist, Mr Ama-ebi Stow by naming a prize for the new talents discovered after him during the 3rd Gov Douye Diri Wrestling Classics .
Also, the Nigeria Wrestling Federation consultant and Director General Prosperity Cup, Mr Ono Akpe, called on the multinational oil companies operating in the State and other well meaning Bayelsans to get involved in the development of sports, saying that government cannot do it alone.
He noted that the Gov Douye Diri Wrestling Classics is open for more sponsorship and that the only way sports can thrive in the state is for the organized private sector to see sports as part of their corporate social responsibility.
