BAYELSA PRE-SEASON TOURNAMENT : ORGANIZERS HOLD DRAWS****AS BAYELSA UNITED U20 BATTLES WARRI WOLVES IN CURTAIN RAISER

Bayelsa United U20 will tackle Nigerian Premier Football League, NPFL returnees Warri Wolves FC at the second edition of the Bayelsa Pre-season tournament in Yenagoa, XtrymeSports.blogspot.com reports.

This follows the draws held in Yenagoa, with officials of some of the teams present.

The fourth best team at the 2025 Bayelsa Governor's Football Tournament otherwise known as the Prosperity Cup, Bayelsa United U20, will test their might against the revived and resurgent Warri Wolves FC at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex at 1pm.

The second game will see Bendel Insurance face Bayelsa United at 3pm at the same venue.
Speaking during the draws, Secretary of the Bayelsa Football Association, Diseye Nwankwe said eight teams were billed to feature at the pre-season tournament, but two teams, El Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri and Rangers FC of Enugu were yet to confirm their availability.

According to the Secretary, El Kanemi Warriors are about having the medicals of their players ahead of the forthcoming season, which was impromptu, and so might not make it to Yenagoa for the pre season, while Enugu Rangers' participation at the just concluded Tico Selected Pre season competition is standing in the way of the team's availability.
Mr Nwankwe said with the draws done, the organisers will wait for the confirmation of Enugu Rangers' FC and if not forthcoming will go ahead with the six available teams.

Recall that sequel to the draws, Bayelsa United FC, Bayelsa United U20, Bendel Insurance FC of Benin, champions of this year's Prosperity Cup, Eternal Grace Ministry, EGM FC of Yenagoa, El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri, NPFL debutants, Kun Khalifat FC of Owerri, Enugu Rangers FC, and returnees, Warri Wolves FC have been tipped to feature in the pre season competition.
The Secretary said should Rangers FC arrive the state for the pre-season tournament by Monday, 11th August, then last season state representative at the Nationwide League, Citiboi FC of Yenagoa is on standby to complete the eight teams.

At the draws, Group A will see Bayelsa United U20, Warri Wolves FC, and Eternal Grace Ministry FC slug out, while Bayelsa United, Bendel Insurance, and Kun Khalifat FC battle in Group B.

The one-week competition is expected to climax on Sunday, 17th August.

Bayelsa United FC won the first pre-season tournament held last year, with immediate past coach, Ladan Bosso in charge.
