*Maiden Edition of Osomkime Blankson Unity Football Tournament Kicks Off September 28*

The Maiden edition of the Osomkime Blankson Unity Football Tournament for Yenagoa Local Government Area is set to kick off on Sunday, September 28, 2025. 
Coach Ada Gwegwe, Technical Director of the tournament, made the announcement during a press briefing in Yenagoa on Thursday.

According to Coach Gwegwe, the tournament aims to promote unity and development among youths in the community.
He expressed gratitude to the tournament's sponsor, Hon. Chief Osomkime Blankson, for his commitment to youth development through sports.
"We are fully ready to kick-start this tournament, and I want to use this medium to thank Hon. Blankson for keying into youth development through sports," Coach Gwegwe said. 

"Sports is a big tool that can be used to fight youth restiveness, and I call on well-meaning individuals and organizations to invest more in sports."
The tournament is expected to bring together teams from various communities in Yenagoa Local Government Area, promoting unity, sportsmanship, and healthy competition.

Present at the press briefing were the Director General of the tournament, Comr Dumeze Akuegbe, and other community members.

OSOMKIME BLANKSON UNITY TOURNEY HOLDS DRAWS ***As Tournament Kicks Off November 20th Organisers of the maiden Osomkime Blankson Unity Football Tournament for Yenagoa Local Government Area have held the draws for the maiden edition of the tournament. A total of thirty five teams have registered to take part in the tourney that will kick off on the 20th of November, 2025. According to the organizers, the shift in date from September 28th to November 20th was necessitated due to pleas from players and officials owing to the incessant downpour, which will hinder free flow of football, and also deny them from showcasing their skills. The thirty five teams were grouped into four, namely Epie, Atissa, Okordia Zarama Buseni and Gbarain Ekpetiama, as sixteen teams will qualify for the Round of sixteen after the preliminary round. OSOMKIME BLANKSON UNITY TOURNEY KICKS OFF IN YENAGOA **** As Famgbe, Yenezue-gene Fire Blank In Opener The Opolo community school field was agog on Friday as the much anticipated maiden Osomkime Blankson Unity Football Tournament for Yenagoa council area kicked off in the capital city. Thirty five teams drawn from the communities within Yenagoa are participating in the competition. Sponsor of the tournament, Hon. Chief Osomkime Blankson, led other notable personalities from the council area, including paramount rules of neighboring communities to the opening ceremony.
