SENATE PRESIDENT'S U-18 UNITY CUP: QATAR FOOTBALL ACADEMY BOSS LAUDS ORGANISERS; COMPETITION 


The Chief Executive Officer, Qatar Football Academy, Borno State, Alhaji Waziri Isa, has shared his two cents on the much anticipated Senate President's U-18 Unity Cup, a tournament that has become a premier platform for young football talents in Nigeria.

In an exclusive interview in Abuja on Tuesday, the CEO commended the Senate President and the organizers of the tournament for their efforts in promoting youth football in Nigeria. 

He stressed such tourney will avail young talents to express themselves and build on their abilities and confidence in taking football as a career.

"The tournament has provided a platform for young talents to showcase their skills and get exposed to top-notch football," he said.

Alhaji Waziri Isa expressed confidence in his team's chances in the 2nd edition of the tournament, saying, "We're confident about our chances in the 2nd edition. We've been working on our weaknesses and building on our strengths. We've also been scouting for new talents and integrating them into our team."
When asked about the key factors that will determine success in the 2nd edition, the CEO identified teamwork, strategy, and mental toughness as crucial elements. "We're working on building a strong team dynamic, perfecting our strategies, and preparing our players mentally to handle the pressure and intensity of the tournament," he said.

Alhaji Isa, a popular personality that is well known for his philanthropic activities, and owns onenif ge most vibrant football academies in the state, also highlighted the impact of the tournament on Qatar Football Academy.

"The tournament has been a huge boost for our academy. It has provided us with exposure, and we've been able to identify and develop young talents."

Recall that Qatar Football Academy were first runner up at last year's edition, after they lost to eventual winners on penalties in the final played on the 18th of November 2024.

The Senate President's U-18 Unity Cup is scheduled to hold from 7th to 17th November 2025 at the Old Parade Ground, Abuja, and will feature 21 teams from across the country.
