CURTAIN DROPS AT NUGA GAMES IN JOS....AS BENSON IDAHOSA UNIVERSITY TOPS MEDAL TABLE


The 27th Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) Games concluded recently in Jos, Plateau State, with Benson Idahosa University, Edo state, emerging as the overall champions.


www.xtrymesporrs.blogspot.com reports that Benson Idahosa University topped the medal table with an impressive 25 gold, 6 silver, and 3 bronze medals.

According to the official medal table released by the organisers, University of Jos finished second having won 8 gold, 15 silver, 17 bronze, University of Benin garnered 15 gold, 9 silver, 10 bronze to finish third on the table

University of Africa, Toru-Orua (UAT), Bayelsa state made a notable debut as an observer and will now participate fully in the 28th NUGA Games in Calabar next year.

The games saw several notable performances, including Ekiti State University's (EKSU) Oluwaseyifunmi Igbasan, who claimed gold in the women's 1500m event, and Federal University of Technology, Akure's (FUTA) Christabel Chioma Offor, who took the top spot in the women's 400m.

A new hockey format was introduced, reducing the number of players from eleven to five, aiming to lower costs and increase participation.

Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) and University of Benin (UNIBEN) showcased their hockey prowess, with TASUED winning the men's category and UNIBEN taking the women's title.

The 27th NUGA Games served as a testament to the growing competitiveness and unity among Nigerian universities, setting the stage for the next edition in Calabar.

OSOMKIME BLANKSON UNITY TOURNEY HOLDS DRAWS ***As Tournament Kicks Off November 20th Organisers of the maiden Osomkime Blankson Unity Football Tournament for Yenagoa Local Government Area have held the draws for the maiden edition of the tournament. A total of thirty five teams have registered to take part in the tourney that will kick off on the 20th of November, 2025. According to the organizers, the shift in date from September 28th to November 20th was necessitated due to pleas from players and officials owing to the incessant downpour, which will hinder free flow of football, and also deny them from showcasing their skills. OSOMKIME BLANKSON UNITY TOURNEY KICKS OFF IN YENAGOA **** As Famgbe, Yenezue-gene Fire Blank In Opener The Opolo community school field was agog on Friday as the much anticipated maiden Osomkime Blankson Unity Football Tournament for Yenagoa council area kicked off in the capital city. Thirty five teams drawn from the communities within Yenagoa are participating in the competition. Sponsor of the tournament, Hon.
