OSOMKIME BLANKSON UNITY TOURNEY KICKS OFF ON FRIDAY, 21st NOVEMBER.

Organisers of the maiden Osomkime Blankson Unity Football Tournament for Yenagoa Local Government Area, have announced Friday, 21st November, 2025 as the kick off date for the competition.

After a long wait for the commencement of the tournament due to preparations, all is now set for the tourney to get underway this week at the Opolo School field, at 3pm.

www XtrymeSports.blogspot.com reports that the Director General of the competition Comrade Dumeze Akuegbe, announced the commencement date through a statement this Wednesday in Yenagoa.

He said the delay was necessitated by the desire of the organizers to ensure a hitch-free and much better competition than the previous edition, as well as have the presence of the sponsor, Hon. Chief Osomkime Blankson, who has been engaged with several appointments within and outside of the state and country.

Comrade Dumeze Akuegbe stressed that with the sponsor now on ground, the plans have been wrapped up and concluded, calling on the registered teams to get themselves prepared for the open ceremonies and competition proper.

The sponsor, Chief Osomkime Blankson is expected to perform the formal kick off, and will be accompanied by his friends and supporters, business and political associates, among others at the event.

A total of thirty one teams have registered to take part in the tourney, aimed at uniting communities under the Yenagoa council area.

OSOMKIME BLANKSON UNITY TOURNEY HOLDS DRAWS ***As Tournament Kicks Off November 20th Organisers of the maiden Osomkime Blankson Unity Football Tournament for Yenagoa Local Government Area have held the draws for the maiden edition of the tournament. A total of thirty five teams have registered to take part in the tourney that will kick off on the 20th of November, 2025. According to the organizers, the shift in date from September 28th to November 20th was necessitated due to pleas from players and officials owing to the incessant downpour, which will hinder free flow of football, and also deny them from showcasing their skills. The thirty five teams were grouped into four, namely Epie, Atissa, Okordia Zarama Buseni and Gbarain Ekpetiama, as sixteen teams will qualify for the Round of sixteen after the preliminary round.
