BILLIE FA WINS MAIDEN ABIA STATE GRASOF U14 FOOTBALL COMPETITION 


Billie Football Academy has emerged winners of the first ever U-14 Easter Cup 2026, after beating Future Stars 4-2 penalties following a 1-1 draw.

The competition put together by the Abia state chapter of the Grassroot Sports Federation (GRASOF) in partnership with the South East zone of GRASOF, was held at the Umuobiakwa Police School Field, Obingwa L.G.A. in Abia State. 
No fewer than forty-five teams participated in the maiden Easter competition which was organized with the aim of discovering and nurturing talents from the grassroots level, XtrymeSports.blogspot.com reports

After a week of exciting and thrilling matches, it was Billie FA that smiled home with the trophy following their victory against Future Stars FC in a nail-biting final.
The maiden Grassroots Sports Federation Southeast Zone, brought together talented young footballers from different teams to showcase their skills and passion for the game. 

The intense match kept the audience on the edge of their seats, with both teams displaying their skills and tactical prowess. In the end, it was Billie FA’s determination that paid off, as they secured the victory in the penalty shootout.
Led by their coach, Coach Onyebuchi Iheanacho, the Billie FC players displayed great teamwork and resilience on the field.  

The coach also shared his pride, saying, “The dedication and hard work of these young players have paid off. They deserved this win, and I am extremely proud of them.”

The Coordinator, South East zone of the Grassroot Sports Federation, Mazi Chukwuemeka Jaka, and the Abia state Coordinator of GRASOF, Mr Joshua Chidozie Echefu, expressed their gratitude to the National President, Hon John Bassey Ekpeyoung, for his fatherly role and contributions toward the success of the competition.

"The success of the Easter Cup and the remarkable victory of Billie FA would not have been possible without the support and efforts of Grassroots Sports Federation, GRASOF Nigeria, led by our President, Hon John Bassey Ekpeyoung. The organization is committed to promoting and developing grassroots football in the country, and the Easter Cup was a fantastic platform to showcase their efforts."
Highlights of the final was the presentation of medals, awards and trophies to deserving winners of the competition.
